This winery is the first to recover the winemaking activity of the Argaric civilisation in Antas more than 4,000 years ago. The winery is located in the province of Almeria near the Argar, an archaeological site located in the municipality of Antas where the Argaric civilisation settled. The Argaric culture is a Bronze Age civilisation whose settlements spread across the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula from 2,200 BC to 1,550 BC. This civilisation mastered agriculture and metals and created pieces of gold and silver work. Their settlements and cities were built on hills and heights from which they dominated the surrounding lands.

The winery does not go unnoticed in all this as it has wanted to recover the history and the winemaking activity of the Argar culture by planting vineyards in Antas, as it was done more than 4,000 years ago. The winery has always been known for being a winery with history and for producing a wine with a strong Iberian spirit, and this only confirms it. As the winery explains on its website, its vineyards are planted on the same land where the first vines brought to the Peninsula by the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago took root. The bodega is located in the east of the province of Almería, near the Sierra de Almagrera, in the valley of Cuevas del Almanzora. The land is situated at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, where cool breezes from the mountains predominate. In addition, the land has a reddish clay loam soil, formed by the decomposition of minerals and rocks. The winery was built in 2003 on stone hills in the style in which the Arganic culture built its cities. In this way the infrastructure does not allow heat or cold to enter or leave the cellar, keeping the barrels at the necessary temperature.

Sierra Almagrera carries out a very special winemaking process due to the area in which it is located and its terrain, which makes its wines very special. They have wines of different varieties of Tempranillo, Shiraz, Garnacha and Monastrell. Caballo Español Gold Edition and Caballo Español are two wines with history and a lot of spirit, which is what the winery wants to transmit at all times. An authentic Spanish product with tradition. Caballo Español Gold Edition is a red wine aged for 25 months in French oak barrels with Shiraz and Tempranillo varieties. Caballo Español is a red wine aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (80%) and American oak barrels (20%) with Shiraz, Tempranillo, Monastrell and Garnacha varieties. They also have Sierra Almagrera, a wine named after the winery. It is a red wine aged for 12 months in French oak barrels with Tempranillo, Shiraz, Garnacha and Monastrell varieties. In 2019 it obtained 84 points in the Guía de vinos gourmets and in 2017 it was awarded 98 points in the amigos del vino awards.
