European Vineyards for Sale
Europe has a vast number of vineyards, some that date back hundreds of years. This rich history definitely gives Europe a leg up on the world in the wine industry. They have had so many years to grow vineyards, to make wine, and to learn what works and what does not. The major producers are Spain, France, and Italy, but wineries and vineyards can be found across Europe. Thus vineyards for sale across Europe have become quite desirable.
A few top European Wine Regions
1.Porto & the Douro Valley
Found in Portugal, this is the only true place to produce Port. Wine across the globe is oftentimes mistakenly called “Port.” Similarly to Champagne, there is only one place, Porto, that can produce a true port. The grapes to produce this sweet wine are picked from vines following the Douro River.
2.Bordeaux, France
Probably one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Bordeaux also happens to be one of the largest wine regions in Europe. Any wine produced in the region can be referred to as Bordeaux, although most commonly the name refers to red wines.
3.Piedmont, ItalyÂ
This region can be found in the northwest portion of the country. It touches France and Switzerland. The name is derived from the Latin word “pedemontium,” which can be translated to “at the foot of the mountains.” This lovely region can be found at the foot of the Alps and is over 40% mountainous. There are more than 170,000 acres of vineyards in this region!
4. Champagne, France
I’d be surprised if that one didn’t ring a bell. This region can easily be accessed by train from Paris. Of course, here you will find all the bubbles. This is the only place to make true Champagne.
