About Hanover Park Vineyard
We are proud to offer Hanover Park Vineyard—one of the very first, pioneering(ca. 1997) vineyards-wineries in North Carolina. Hanover Park is a very well-known, integrated vineyard-winery and events venue—recognized especially for its old world style, high quality wines that helped establish the fine reputation enjoyed by the Yadkin Valley AVA—considered the most desirable AVA in North Carolina for its overall quality terroir.
This AVA is also home to a total of 46 wineries as of August, 2022—thus providing a somewhat localized “critical mass” for tasting visit itineraries, and various events centered on encouraging winery visitors to the overall area comprising this AVA.
The Location, Setting and the Land:
Hanover Park Vineyard (HPV) is situated on ~24 acres of farmland (yet with good road frontage and access) and prides itself as offering a setting which offers the ability to relax and experience the kind of idyllic, Southern charm which is unique and true to its historic old farm roots.
While offering this idyllic and charming setting, HPV is only a mere 30 minutes, or 25 miles from downtown Winston-Salem—the heart of one of the most dynamic, vibrant, and growing Metropolitan Statistical Areas in North Carolina—with about 725,000 in population as of 2022.
This MSA has been consistently growing at about 2.0% annually, and the economic, business, and earnings demographics are characterized by higher than average educational levels as well as higher discretionary income levels—both being well-known drivers behind interest in and appreciation of, quality estate wines produced locally…such as those offered by HPV!
The Vineyard Acreage and the Varietals:
The vineyard is well-sited, and benefits from an underlying “sandy loam” soil (not red clay as found in many other vineyards)—comprising about 8 +/- acres under vine and consisting primarily of well-selected, old world vinifera that does well in this highly regarded AVA. The varietals planted are as follows:
- Chardonnay ~1 AC
- Cabernet Franc ~1 AC
- Cabernet Sauvignon ~2 AC
- Mourvedre ~1 AC
- Chambourcin ~1 AC
- Viognier ~1 AC
- Syrah ~.75 AC
- Chardonel ~.25 AC
These estate-grown red and white varietals provide an excellent selection for the wine-maker’s art—and the resultant vintages over the years at HPV truly speak for themselves in terms of quality, taste, drinkability, and overall enjoyment. They have brought numerous wine-tasting awards to HPV over the past 22 years.
There is also an existing, strong and vibrant wine club at Hanover Park and it is clear evidence of the excellent reputation HPV enjoys for quality wines, and stimulating special wine events throughout each season.
The Production Winery:
Situated in a separate barn type structure proximate to the vineyard and the farmhouse, is the 3,200 sf production winery, which also has a large 20 X 80 integrated, covered utility pad/patio area for use during harvest and crush as well as for other purposes throughout the year.
The production winery is fully equipped, and offered on a turn-key basis. Full production capacity with current equipment is 3,500 cases annually. Recent annual production has been in the 1,500 case range.

The Historic “Old Farm House” and “The Gallery” Tasting Room Venue:
This vineyard and winery is in an historic setting, with the restored 1897 farm house serving as the centerpiece of the overall setting—and providing warm, charming spaces for wine tasting for the casual enjoyment of wine and conversation, as well as small events.
Both interior and adjacent exterior spaces (many under centuries-old oak trees) can easily accommodate everything from a small informal picnic to small special events such as a birthday celebration, an anniversary party and the like. Currently, The Gallery room at the rear of the farm house is also serving as the general tasting room facility—as well as for other hospitality related uses mentioned above.
“The Studio” Special Events Venue:
Hanover Park also boasts another larger barn type structure on the property which dates to the 1930s, and has been carefully restored to serve as a special events center which can accommodate events with up to 250 persons. The overall building dimensions are 50 x 130 or 6,500 sf of total enclosed space.
The main event space has a vaulted, wood-beamed ceiling area which provides a dramatic effect to any event—and the main room space itself is a massive 50 x 100 or 5,000 sf. The overall appearance and feel of The Studio building and the main event space is rustic, yet charming and inviting.
The building has both heat and air conditioning (thus all season use), with a catering kitchen in the rear area, and there are also a bridal dressing room, a ladies restroom, and a men’s restroom.
All FF&E associated with this building conveys, and notably includes 150 hand-made wooden chairs, 15 60 inch round tables, 2 8ft. handmade harvest tables, and 7 6ft. handmade harvest tables.
All manner of larger events such as weddings, wedding receptions, anniversary parties, family reunion events, corporate meeting events, etc. can be easily accommodated in The Studio.
